TM Architects are appointed as lead consultants for The Guinness Partnership on an estate regeneration scheme in North East London. The project involves looking at ways to provide more housing on and around the estate which currently has 579 flats, a community building, garages and shared amenity spaces. Initial feasibility studies led to the development of four options which formed the basis of consultation with residents and Hackney Council. These options range from production of between 100-450 new homes.
The options include investigating the feasibility of building the new homes to a Passivhaus standard, which would reduce energy consumption and household bills, and building them in cross-laminated timber (CLT) to reduce construction times and disruption to residents. TM Architects have been developing these proposals alongside a team of specialist consultants.
The scheme includes estate-wide improvements in landscaping and urban design and the design of a new community facility.
